  • About Coach

Born and raised between San Diego and Tijuana, I fell in love with team sports early on and carried that passion through high school, playing football, volleyball, and wrestling. I didn’t know much about training at first, but I knew that if I wanted to play football, I needed to lift weights. At 14, my mom bought me my first set of weights at a garage sale, and I haven’t looked back since. At 18, I joined 24 Hour Fitness, where I really began to develop in the gym. Soon after, a family friend and former bodybuilder became my first mentor, introducing me to basic programming, new movements, and nutrition strategies. His only fee was protein. I continued my football career at a Division I school in Tijuana, Mexico, building lifelong friendships and memories. My training stayed consistent until I stepped into my first CrossFit gym in 2020. After asking for gym recommendations in the South Bay, a friend pointed me to CrossFit Fortius South. I started training, immediately fell in love with the methodology, and a few years later decided to pursue coaching. Three and a half years and three and a half gyms later, I’m here - ready to help you have the best hour of your day.

    Turning Point

A few years ago, my wife and I had been married for over 10 years but were unable to get pregnant. We decided to pursue adoption, which brought up deep insecurities and doubts: whether I could be a good father, provide for a family, be chosen, or even be liked by my future child. I’ve always struggled with low self-confidence and impostor syndrome, and this experience amplified it. I made a conscious decision to fight through that insecurity to become the man my wife and future child needed. It was terrifying, but I had my “why.” Fast forward three years. At 5:45 one morning, I heard my son yelling “Dada” as I was getting ready for the gym. I hugged him, walked him back upstairs to sleep with his mom, and headed to work. The insecurity is still there, but now I have a reason to fight the good fight.

    Motivation & Passion

My goal as a coach is to encourage, educate, and equip members with the tools they need to stay healthy for life. Leading a class is easy. Making a lasting impact is not. I want every member in my class to know that I genuinely care about their physical health, mental well-being, family, interests, and everything that makes them a complete human. I believe a healthier society is a happier society, and I’m here to help us move in that direction.
