CrossFit Level 2 Trainer
Jumped around a lot from different hobbies, skateboarding, yoga, spin class, rock climbing, MMA, boxing, cycling, etc and couldn’t find anything that would stick, until I finally decided to try CrossFit. There was something about picking something up, putting it back down and having to do it all over again but faster, heavier, or sometimes something completely different but the same. Couldn’t do any of the movements and still a work in progress, but then found myself coming almost everyday regardless of being sore, tired or hungover. It was the coaches and members that pushed me and I loved the sense of accountability and it built my confidence. Roughly 4-5 years later of sticking to CrossFit, the longest I ever stuck to anything ever, was always in class wanting to help others with movements or tips and decided it was time to make it a career. Studying for the Level one, internship for a year and now coaching for over 2 years.
Starting my career in the restaurant business, moved around all over cooking, serving, bartending, management, etc for over 15 years. Definitely got caught up in the industry lifestyle of heavy drinking. Always a person with a propensity for hard work, juggled 2-3 jobs my whole life and so pushed myself through my hangovers and showed up to my CrossFit classes powered through my workouts and my work day. My turning point, I was never getting anywhere, I realized I was only spinning my wheels and not giving myself the opportunity to train at my full capacity. Kicked the drinking habit, haven’t touched in long time and instantly found myself improving as well as my recovery. It instantly became more rewarding everyday. As simple as it sounds, what we put into it is what we get out of it.
I strive to become a better version of myself everyday. It’s a work in progress and I’m thankful for the coaches and people who helped me along the way to get where I am today. Maybe it was the one cue that finally made sense or the push to do something different or better. My motivation to coach is to the same for others.
